Can someone with fibromyalgia symptoms find ways to move that bring relief from the in their body?

Yes, there are ways to do it.

Are you a couch potato?  Does pain drain your energy?
At times, the mere thought of exercise is painful. Or it just feels too hard – like too much work – right now.

but you just don’t do it – exercise, that is.
Is pain your excuse? Yes, you do have a reason.  A good reason.

But now, let’s look at it another way.

What if you didn’t have to exercise all your , but just
get them moving, doing something fun.

You know how kids just get up and twirl when they want?

What would that be for you? Imagine it!

Do you see yourself enjoying it, playing and giggling like a child?
If not, try to allow yourself to have that experience.

Imagine playing and laughing at it.  Your body loves that!

Now get up and go do it.  Do some or all of it – to the best of your ability – and enjoy!

If it is something you can NOT physically do,
Imagine It In Detail.

The more real you make it in your imagination, the more you will actually experience it in your brain,
, and even in your muscles.

The result may well diminish your pain!

This is a way to begin to get those impulses flowing through your nervous system.
That, by itself, has enormous benefits to your brain and body.

It will:

•    increase circulation,
•    accelerate and
•    release – the healing ‘feel good chemicals’ in your brain.

By imagining it, you will see and feel how you can physically do all or part of it.

KEEP IT FUN AND EXCITING, or playful.

Put on some music that makes you want to move. It can be dance music or peaceful flute music –
anything that moves you will work
.

Get in a comfortable position, close your eyes and just let your body move,
however it wants to move.

If you think you can’t dance, or you are in a wheelchair – or even ,
this is even more important for you, as …

Any movement at all is healing for your body, mind and spirit.

Dance a bit – sitting on the couch!
You can do this sitting in a chair, or even lying down!

Barely perceptible movement in an injured area, or even imaginary movement in a paralyzed limb,
will send waves of energizing and healing vibrations through the body
.
This will often markedly improve circulation, and can be both strengthening and, at the same time, calming
to nerves and muscles.

You may be shy, self conscious or even embarrassed.  Let that go!
Allow yourself the amazing benefits of spontaneous natural movement – it is powerfully healing and regenerating,
as many injured athletes have attested.

Don’t try to move – or force yourself to move – in any particular way.
Take time to experience listening to what your body wants to do.  It may surprise you.

See where it wants to start. What part wants to move (maybe it will start with your neck, maybe your foot)?
Allow it, and see where it leads you.
Follow it for at least a few minutes. Longer if you can.

It will offer you a key to your healing.

That is a very rich way of loving your body, no matter what shape or condition it is in.
And you can begin wherever you are in your ability to move and enjoy it.
You can love yourself, moving yourself, exactly as you are.

If you move best to swing dance music, salsa or rock, go for it!
Use whatever you love, that gets YOU moving.
